GUSSERANE NATIONAL SCHOOL
September 27th, 2019
Friendship Week 30th September to 4th October: We are all looking forward again to our Friendship Week here in Gusserane NS where we highlight all that is positive about being friends and the issues surrounding friendship. We have organised a series of events for Friendship Week including -“Friendship Bouquet – Friends at school are best of all”, co-operative games, paired poems, and pictures (old with young), Friendship wool bracelets and Yamakids Yamakids Yoga mindfulness class on Friday, October 4th. The cost per child for Yoga class is €2. There will be a host of other lessons dealing with the importance of friendship in all classes during this week.
Safety: We would ask again for parents/guardians to be very mindful when dropping off their children and parking in the mornings and afternoons. Also, we would ask parents/guardians not to allow children to walk along the walls outside the school in the afternoon. We would also ask parents/guardians not to leave their children come back into the school grounds to play after they have been collected at 2pm and 3pm.
Maths Week: Gusserane NS will be celebrating Maths Week from October 12th to October 20th with many fun mathematical events taking place.
Sing-Out-Loud: The children from 3rd to 6th class are currently rehearsing their songs for the Sing Out Loud Concert this November in the National Opera House. We have not been assigned a date for this concert as yet but will let you know as soon as we do.
First Holy Communion: The Sacrament of First Holy Communion will be held on Saturday the 9th of May 2020 at 11am and the enrolment mass for First Holy Communion will take place on Sunday the 6th of October 2019. No confirmed date has been given to us re-confirmation yet, we will forward this on as soon as it is confirmed.
INTO Mini Sevens Football: Well done to the boys and girls in 5th and 6th classes who took part in the INTO Mini Sevens Football tournament and who acquitted themselves with distinction.
Aldi Rugby Poster: We are collecting the stickers in the Aldi Rugby promotion, if you shop in Aldi we would be grateful if you could collect the stickers. We do not want or expect any parents/guardians to shop especially in Aldi just to collect stickers.
