School History

The present school was built in 1968 and replaced an older school on the opposite side of the road built in 1898 which now serves as a community hall. Gusserane N.S. has contributed through the years to the social, sporting and religious development and achievements of the area. A new classroom was officially opened in 2018.

Mission Statement

At Gusserane N.S. we wish to foster the holistic development of students and staff, in an inclusive, caring and supportive environment.  We understand that our students needs require nurturing at a physical, academic, social, emotional and spiritual level.

We aim to promote an atmosphere of respect, honesty and fairness in which all pupils are provided with the opportunity to reach their full potential. All pupils are treated equally. Pupils are encouraged to contribute their individual strengths and talents to the school community, through their academic work, extra-curricular activities, and their everyday actions in school.

Gusserane N.S. is an integral part of the Tintern parish community and in partnership with parents and the Church, we aim to enrich the Catholic faith through religious education, preparation for the sacraments and through our school ethos.

We strive each day to be a warm and welcoming place, respectful and accommodating of diversity in race, culture, religion, gender and ability. Clear effective and respectful communication among students, staff, parents and the Board of Management and the wider school community is important to us to allow all of our pupils grow and develop both academically and socially during their time in Gusserane N.S.
