Fifth and Sixth class were all delighted to see each other on Monday 8th April after having two weeks off for our Easter break. As soon as we got back to school we were busy in continuing our preparation for the sacrament ofConfirmation. We finished off preparing our artwork for the church and practiced our readings and songs for the choir. Our Confirmation day arrived on Wednesday 17th April and we all had a lovely day. Everyone read and sang beautifully and it is a day we will always remember. After the ceremony we went to the hall and had a cup of tea and some refreshments with our family and friends. We got to take pictures with each other that we will no doubt look back on in years to come.
In Maths we were learning all about money, weight, averages and pie charts. In English we were focusing on report writing and we composed reports on “Our Sporting Heroes”. We enjoyed using the tablets to research information on our sporting hero’s background and sporting achievements. In Gaeilge we have been learning about An Aimsir and the Aimsir Fháistineach.
We welcomed back Amanda from Yama Kids yoga in April also. We love spending time each week practicing our yoga poses, breathing techniques and mindfulness. As well as this we also welcomed back Jimmy who takes us for GAA coaching each week. Swimming started in the APEX in New Ross and we have been going to swimming lessons every Thursday. On top of this our 6th class have been competing in rounders matches and are thoroughly enjoying them. We look forward to spending the coming weeks in May continuing these activities.
April concluded with our boys competing in the Rackard League Hurling District final. The Tintern boys put in a great performance and won , defeating Bannow Ballymitty. The Tintern boys have now won the Rackard League Football and Hurling Finals , what an achievement! The boys are now going forward to the County Quarter Final and we wish them the very best of luck.
