April 2024

April 2024

Everyone was delighted to see their friends again after the Easter Holidays. We shared all our news from the holidays with our friends. We had lots to look forward to this month in school.

We were delighted to welcome Amanda back from Yama Kids Yoga. Amanda will be with us in school for 4 weeks and we are looking forward our Yoga lessons with her. We were also delighted to welcome Jimmy back for GAA coaching. We will be doing lots of work on our throwing and catching skills over the coming weeks.

The Book Fair took place in school this month. We enjoyed browsing through the nice selection of books and we will earn free books back for our libraries in school. Junior Infants are working hard on their reading skills. We are starting to revise our sounds and we are doing lots of work on recognising sight words in our reading. Senior Infants are also working hard on developing their reading fluency through Literacy stations.

Money was our topic in Maths for April. Junior Infants were learning to recognise and match coins, while Senior Infants were learning to recognise coins up to 20c. We made some coin rubbings and we created some price tags for our Supermarket role play area. In our role play area we worked as shopkeepers and customers. We were taking in money at the till and making shopping lists.

An Siopa Milseán was our focus in Irish. We learned lots of new vocabulary and phrases. We practiced phrases in class such as an maith leat, is maith liom and ní maith liom with our peers.
