In the month of April,we learned all about Grace O’Malley the pirate queen. The children met the Earl of Howth during our drama lessons and created fantastic pirate ships. It was lovely seeing their creativity flow as they each made unique designs.
Yoga lessons began and the children are loving each lesson. We have shown amazing effort each week. They have learned calming and relaxation techniques as well as having lots of fun doing partner poses, which proved to be surprisingly successful. The class showed great teamwork as they worked together to balance, stretch and create fantastic poses.
In April, children in second class made the sacrament of First Confession with Fr. Byrne. It was a busy time, preparing art, learning prayers and singing songs. The children should be very proud of the hard work that they put in. There were a few nerves beforehand, but there was no need for them as they did a great job on the day.
In maths this month, one of the topics we covered was 3D shapes. We explored their properties and found out how many faces, edges and vertices each shape had. We also found out which shapes could roll, slide and stack. We finished the topic by creating our very own 3d shapes with paper nets, glue and tape. These were tricky but with a little help we each had a shape to bring home.
