December 2023

December 2023

The Junior and Senior Infants were very busy during the month of December. We had so much to look forward to and everyone was so excited for Christmas!

We learned lots of new vocabulary for Christmas and learned lots of new words in Irish. We sang the song ‘Bualadh Bos’ in class and we had lots of fun at our Christmas Play areas. We worked hard designing new toys and wrapping presents in Santa’s Workshop, we constructed new workshops in our construction area and we completed some nice Christmas art, including Christmas Trees and Penguins.

The Infants were so excited to perform the play ‘Ralph the Reindeer’ for their family and friends in Gusserane Hall. Our play was based around Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Poor Rudolph had a cold and was feeling rough so Ralph the Reindeer had to take over. However, Ralph forgot he couldn’t fly Santa’s Sleigh! In the end, Santa was able to fly the sleigh and all the presents were delivered in time for Christmas Day. Well done to everyone for their fantastic performances!

A big thanks to our Parents Association for the brilliant Christmas Party which was held in the hall. We enjoyed some delicious hot food, we danced to lots of our favourite songs and Santa also made an appearance!

We finished up our Gymnastics lessons with Tommy and Kevin this month. We learned so many new skills and we really enjoyed all of the games we played with them. We also had great fun at GAA coaching and Santa came to visit during our last session of 2023 and gave us some treats! We did a Santa Dash with the whole school too. This was led by the fifth and sixth class. We had to find a letter at each of our Active Walkway areas with our teams. When we collected all the letters, we had to unjumble them and figure out what the Christmas word was.

We also made a trip down to fifth and sixth class for reading buddies. The Infants picked some nice picture books and the older boys and girls read them a story.

We are looking forward to 2024 and seeing what’s in store!
