February 2024

February 2024

Ms Molloy continued to work with us during February.  She did lots of fun topics with us. We learned all about Italy and we worked together in pairs to create projects on different aspects of life in Italy. While learning about Italy we also learned about the Romans in History and studied light in science and studied Italian scientist Galileo Galilei. In Irish we worked on the topic of Eadaí and in English we wrote our own narrative stories.

In PE we did athletics with Ms Molloy  and practiced relay races. We finished up tag rugby with Katie, we thoroughly enjoyed trying a sport we don’t practice very often. We said goodbye to Katie but we said hello to Anne Marie as she stated dance classes with us. Anne Marie will be with us each Tuesday for 6 weeks and we are learning a routine to “Jailhouse Rock”.

The highlight of February was our trip to the Dunbrody Famine Ship in New Ross. We finished studying the Famine in Ireland in history and reading our class novel Under the Hawthorn Tree. We found it very interesting to see the conditions that the passengers would have been living in on the ship.

February finished Cineáltas Week, which highlighted the importance of being kind to one another. Our class made kindness notes for every child in our school and we gave them out anonymously. We had random acts of kindness throughout the week, made friendship bracelets and took part in team building activities. The week ended with the raising of our Cineáltas Flag and our charity PJ Day.
