Fifth and Sixth Class have settled in to 2023 very well and are looking forward to what is in store for rest of the school year.
The ending of our class novel “Holes” brought some pleasant surprises as the class discovered that the story ends in a happy ending for Stanley.
January also saw the beginning of our course of yoga lessons. We are enjoying the poses and mediation brought to us by coach Amanda each week.
January was artist appreciation month and the class loved experimenting with the work of artist Andy Warhol and his pop art techniques. The class picked created an advertisement in the style of Andy Warhol and the logo of their favourite brand. Some fantastic advertisements were created.
The class also took part in badminton lessons for the first time. Coach Gary from Sports Active Wexford arrived to the school to offer the class some tips and guidance when beginning the skills of badminton. The class are looking forward to heading to Astro Active in Enniscorthy on February 3rd, where they will participate in a badminton fun day with some other schools from around the county.
It was great to see the class remembered the ukulele chords we had looked at before the Christmas break. We look forward to learning new chords and songs in the coming weeks.
January also brought the visit of illustrator and artist Sarah Bowie to our classroom. Sarah has had 2 sessions with the class introducing to the skills of comic book illustrating and writing. The class look forward to a further 2 sessions with Sarah in February.
