March 2024

March 2024

March flew around, and the children had a great time dancing with Anne-Marie Cooney! They learned two dances and watching them improve each week and put the dances together was fantastic.

We celebrated St.Patrick’s Day with a céilí in the hall. The boys and girls practised their 1,2,3s and then tried their hands at ‘ballaí Luimní’ or the ‘walls of Limerick’ and shoe the donkey, too. We created pots of gold to celebrate the day in art and they turned out brilliantly!

In March, we held VIP day. We drew portraits and wrote about people who are special to us and invited them to the school. 1st and 2nd Class read a poem about the importance of families. We held a bake sale in school and raised money for children’s hospitals in Ireland.

As the weather began to improve we learned about the season of spring and found about baby animals, flowers and crops growing. We spotted signs of springs around us in baby lambs in the fields, daffodils blooming and the sun peeking out from behind the clouds.

Boys and girls in first and second class were delighted to take part in an Easter quiz with junior and senior infants. They searched the yard during the lollipop stick hunt and received a delicious chocolatey treat from the P.A. for which they were very grateful for. They finished off the term very excited for their Easter holidays.
