November 2022
November was a very busy month in third and fourth class.
In maths we learned all about graphs and collecting data. We carried out surveys within our class and then created bar charts to represent the data. We also started multiplication, third class were very excited and eager to begin learning their times tables. In English we learned all about procedural writing and wrote our own recipes.
Science Week took place from the 14th – 18th of November. Each day we had a science “Question of the Day”, the winner was picked out of a hat and received a prize. We carried out experiments in class including – the bouncy egg experiment and investigating the best coin cleaner. We visited the infant classroom and helped them with science stations. This was lots of fun and we loved helping the younger students. Later in the week we went outside and carried out the coke and mentos experiment as well as the “exploding bag” with vinegar and baking soda. We finished off science week with a science table quiz with 5th and 6th class.
We are very lucky to have some fantastic coaches visiting our school for PE. We started rugby coaching every Tuesday with Niall. As well as this we have gymnastics with Tommy and Kevin from Gymstars. We love having the coaches in and we look forward to it each week.
At the end of November came the day we had all been waiting for – Sing Out Loud! On the 24th of November we travelled to the National Opera House for Sing Out Loud. We were so excited to finally perform all the songs we worked so hard on. We travelled to Wexford altogether on a bus. When we arrived we met the Sing Out Loud team and we had a full rehearsal with the band. After this we got a break and then it was show time! When the curtains went up, we all looked out at the crowd and tried to spot our families. We had a fantastic time!
We cannot wait for December and all the fun Christmas activities that will be in store!
