October 2022

October 2022

It was another busy month in the 5th and 6th class classroom during the month of October.  Ms. Kinsella joined us for the month and carried out some lovely lessons with the class.  From learning about the Aboriginal community in Australia  to creating projects on the local haunted house of Loftus Hall.

The class continued reading the novel ‘Holes’ and are enjoying following main character Stanley on his journey in Camp Green Lake.  Bia was the theme of the month during Irish lessons.  Great comhrá and fabulous biachláir were created during the month.

The class continued to practice their tin whistles and ukuleles, particularly in preparation for our Open Evening at the end of October.  The class took on a massive art project where they worked in pairs to construct a haunted house using recycled materials and papier machée. The class showed great team-work and artistic skills and produced some fabulous, haunted house constructions that they proudly displayed on Open Evening.

We continued our lessons with Suzanne from STEAM education, where the class were tasked with creating some land and sea habitats and learned all about wind energy and created some excellent wind turbines.

Well done to 5th & 6th class on all of their hard work during the month of October.
