October 2023

The Infants had an eventful month during October. Our theme for the month was Autumn. We also enjoyed learning about Halloween!

We loved learning about Autumn in class. We had lots of opportunities to explore Autumn through play. We constructed homes for hedgehogs, we had a farm shop selling Autumn goods and we looked at leaves and conkers in our tuff trays. We painted some leaves to create leaf prints. We had a brilliant time in Kennedy Park learning about Autumn. We observed the different colours of the leaves and we also collected some acorns! Of course a day in the Kennedy Park wouldn’t t be complete without a trip to the playground!

The Infants are really enjoying GAA coaching with Jimmy. We have been learning lots of new games and we are working hard on our throwing and kicking skills using footballs.

We really enjoyed Maths Week this year. The third and fourth class paid a visit to our room for Maths stations. We had fun activities which were enjoyed by all, including tablets, hop skotch, making patterns and using the bee bots. We also had a maths problem of the day each morning. The Infants were all eager to win the daily prize which was up for grabs!

We were very excited for Halloween in class. The Infants were working in the Witches Kitchen making potions and acting as the witch. They also completed some lovely art work. We were using lots of new Halloween words in Irish. We all got a pumpkin each to bring home. Our whole school disco went down a treat on the day of the holidays. We really enjoyed dancing to songs such as the Monster Mash and Ghostbusters! We also enjoyed teaming up with first and second class for a Halloween quiz and we also completed a Halloween scavenger hunt!
