October 2024

For three weeks in October, we had a student teacher, Mr. Dundon in our room. We learned all about space and the solar system. We wrote recounts of Neil Armstrong’s first step on the moon and completed some drama relating to this moment in history. We also made planets from papier-mâché and painted them.  We were learning about 2D shapes, area and perimeter in Maths and enjoyed some activities outside when the weather allowed!

It was our turn to perform at our monthly assembly, and we had a few tricks up our sleeves! We played ‘Spooky Scary Skeletons’ on the tin whistle and we recited the poem, ‘An Púca’ for the whole school. We did a fantastic job! We have made such good progress on the tin whistle and we are looking forward to learning more tunes as the year goes on.

We started practising for Sing Out Loud which will be happening in November in The National Opera House. We are very excited to learn this year’s songs!

We celebrated Halloween by playing some traditional games. We went bopping for apples and we enjoyed some barmbrack in our classroom. We also made some cupcakes and decorated them before we went home for the mid-term break.
