September 2022
What a month September has been. Fifth and Sixth class have settled back into school life with an eagerness to learn, socialise and inquire; all with a positive attitude and a smile on their faces. Sixth class are ready to lead by example and make lasting memories as they begin their final year in primary school.
Activities across the month have varied from rounders to poetry, science experiments to castle drawing, with a cúpla focail along with maths problems and riddles keeping our minds focused along the way.
Local historical ruins were the focus of our history lessons at the beginning of the month with focus placed on the history of our local attractions Tintern Abbey and Dunbrody Abbey.
The novel ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar has been a huge hit with the class engrossed with Stanley and his fellow characters. All class members are eager to see what adventure awaits them next in the novel.
At the end of September we had our first visit from STEAM education. This was lesson 1 of a group of 5 lessons looking at the topic of climate change. Each pupil created the planet earth and it’s atmosphere.
The class have also been very busy musically with tin whistle practice, sing out loud practice and also an introduction to the ukulele, which has been a big hit with all pupils. We cannot wait to progress through the chords and create some music for the whole school to enjoy.
After a busy September we look forward to see what the month of October brings!!
