September 2023
We kicked off September getting to know each other as a class. Children talked about themselves, their families, and their friends through a variety of different fun art activities and games. We made ‘All About Me’ rainbow clouds which proved to be a hit.
In English stations we have lots of fun learning our new sounds, reading interesting books and taking part in oral language games and activities. A particular favourite was using playdough to create words with our sound of the week.
In our Gaeilge lessons, we were learning all about the animals in the zoo and we learned lots of action words too. First and Second Class learned lots of new Irish vocabulary, wrote sentences in Irish and loved playing games including Deir O’Gradaigh and Cad atá Imithe. The children made beautiful drawings of elephants and created 3d snakes out of card at the end of the unit.
This month we began GAA in PE. The children were delighted to see coach Jimmy returning and they all took part enthusiastically in the games and activities he organised. It was a great way to start off our Friday mornings!
It was a busy but very fun month settling back into school life!
